Trainee Finds Value In Every Experience

09 September 2019

Undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship can involve a range of different moments, including the highs and the lows, but when you reach the finish line and graduate, it all feels worth it.

Elizabeth Pirolo experienced the feeling of graduating this week, completing her Certificate III in Business Administration at her host business, Liverpool City Council. For the past year, she has been working in the Council’s City Economy Unit.

“What I have enjoyed most about my traineeship at Liverpool City Council is the people I work with and the encouragement they give me,” said Elizabeth.

Elizabeth’s hard work and commitment to her role has seen her nominated at our upcoming Apprentice & Trainee Awards, in the Certificate III Trainee of the Year category. Now that her traineeship is over, Elizabeth will be staying on with the Council for at least the next six months.

“I hope to make my time here at Council just as exciting as it has been,” said Elizabeth.

During her traineeship, Elizabeth has learned a great deal, from different skills and knowledge, as well as lessons she can use throughout her professional and personal life.

“There is value in every experience,” said Elizabeth.

“I have also learnt how to be more organised, how to communicate better and be more confident.”

Undertaking a Business Administration traineeship has seen Elizabeth work on a variety of different projects and tasks. She has assisted in running of Council’s ‘Welcome to Liverpool’ event, which welcomes small businesses to the local government area. Elizabeth has also learnt how to use the organisation’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which collates important data that can lead to new jobs, investments and partnerships in the local community.

With such a broad range of skills and experiences under her belt, Elizabeth is glad she did the traineeship and would recommend it to others.

“I was able to experience and participate in amazing projects I wasn’t expecting to be a part of,” said Elizabeth.

“It is a fantastic way to further grow skills and knowledge.”

Congratulations to Elizabeth on completing her traineeship and we wish her all the best for our upcoming awards!
