Congratulations to trainee, Libby Clapson, who recently won School Based Trainee of the Year at a NSW Training Awards event.
Libby took out the top honour in her category at the Southern and South Western Sydney regional event last month. The trainee is in the final few months of her school based traineeship, hosted to Campbelltown City Council. She is very grateful to the support she’s had that’s lead her to winning this award.
“I have accepted this award on behalf My Gateway, Campbelltown City Council and a program at school, the NRL School to Work program,” Libby said.
“Without these three organisations, I would not have been able to win this award. They have all provided me with so much support and guidance in the last year and a half in my traineeship. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
This isn’t the only honour Libby has received in her traineeship. She won My Gateway’s School Based Trainee of the Year in 2020 after displaying a great attitude in a very challenging year. Her great attitude has continued in 2021, evident in her response to the recent NSW Training Awards being changed to a virtual event at the last minute. This was due to the current COVID-19 situation in Greater Sydney.
“I have heard it was a big event planned, however I still got to share the celebrations in the comfort of my own home with my family,” she said.
“I also received a lot of messages from work colleagues congratulating me since the announcement so I did not feel like I missed out on the big celebration.”
On the back of her win, Libby is focused as she works through the final months of her traineeship.
“I am really focusing on not taking the foot off the pedal and striving to get across the line with as much confidence and courage as I had when I first started my traineeship.”
