School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

04 April 2019

My Gateway is now taking on school based apprentices and trainees.

Our new school based initiative emphasises on the promotion, recruitment and employment of school based apprentices and trainees – otherwise known as SBATs. We have recently employed a handful of SBAT apprentices, with a focus to increase SBAT commencements for 2020!

What are School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships?

Not everyone will be aware of what a school based apprenticeship or traineeship is, or how they work.

In simple terms, an apprenticeship or traineeship is undertaken whilst the student is still at school. It incorporates school, paid work and formal training with the student gaining credit towards their HSC. To be eligible to undertake a school based apprenticeship or traineeship, the student must be at least 15 years old.
