SBATs Shine in 2021

09 December 2021

2021 has been another challenging year, but the efforts of our apprentices and trainees have been inspiring and impressive.

Our school based apprentices and trainees (SBATs) in particular have shown great resilience to power through their placements while focusing on their school work. For many of our SBATs, they have also had the HSC to focus on, which is challenging in itself. We want to congratulate all of our SBATs on their hard work in 2021 – we are very proud of you!

Here are a few SBAT highlights from the past year and a look towards 2022.

My Gateway Award Winners

We recently held our 2021 Apprentice & Trainee Award events, with two of our SBATs walking away with awards. Tyrell Ao won the School Based Apprentice of the Year Award for his achievements working at host business, CJD Equipment, as a plant mechanic apprentice. Tyrell is close to completing his 1st year and in his time so far, has shown the makings of a highly skilled technician.

Mia Faure took home the School Based Trainee of the Year award for her work in the People & Performance team at host business, Campbelltown City Council. During her school based traineeship, Mia developed her confidence and communication skills, and embodied the Council’s values in all her tasks and attitude.

Well done to both Tyrell and Mia!

Business Admin Trainee Wins Major Award

School Based trainee, Libby Clapson, was also acknowledged for her efforts in 2021, winning a major award as part of the NSW Training Awards.

Libby, who also undertook her placement at Campbelltown City Council, won the School Based Trainee of the Year award at the Southern and South Western Sydney regional event.

Libby would go on to also be a finalist at the NSW & Group Training Awards in October.

Congratulations to Libby on a stellar year and for completing her school based traineeship!

Looking Ahead to 2022

We currently have a number of school based apprentices and trainees placed in a variety of industries, including business administration, carpentry and childcare. These young employees learn key skills and knowledge in their trades and gain invaluable while continuing their schooling. This highlights the positive impact a school based apprenticeship or traineeship can have a on young person’s life.

If your child or student is interested in doing an apprenticeship or traineeship while still at school, we want to hear from you! We have many school based opportunities for 2022 so please get in contact with us.
