After a tough couple of years as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic, in-person events like careers expo are back!
Our team has already attended a few expos in 2022 but that will ramp up even more as students approach the final months of the school year.
Our school based trainee, Montanna Vongthongthip, has attended heaps of expos throughout high school so we asked her to give some pointers on how to get the most out of these events.
If you have an idea of some of the businesses and exhibitors attending the expo, do a bit of research. Try and get a clearer idea of what they do and could help you with.
Keep a list, whether it be mental or written, about what you want to talk about with the different exhibitors.
Bring a notebook as you’ll likely be overwhelmed with all the information given to you throughout the day. If you type faster than you write, open up your notes app and use that to take notes instead.
Talking about future career can take time so don’t rush and instead try to make the most of having someone there who can answer your questions. You will probably walk away with information you didn’t know previously.
If you’re attending an expo where My Gateway will be – check out our current vacancies beforehand. Pick a few opportunities you would like to discuss about with our recruiters.
