Carpentry Apprentice Wins Major Construction Scholarship

14 December 2022

Congratulations to carpentry apprentice, Allyssa Hudson, who was recently awarded with a major construction scholarship.

Allyssa, who is hosted to one of our long-time host businesses, Lendlease, took out the Transport for NSW Tradesperson Scholarship at the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) NSW Awards for Excellence.

The scholarship caps off a stellar year for Allyssa, who was also a finalist at My Gateway’s Apprentice & Trainee Awards in the category of Female Apprentice of the Year. The apprentice is in the final year of her trade qualification, making these honours all the more special.

“I feel very privileged and thankful to have won,” said Allyssa.

“It is a great honour to be recognise by NAWIC, and I am proud to have brought the award home for Lendlease and My Gateway.”

The scholarship will provide assistance to Allyssa through future education and training in her field. She already has her sights set on a particular way to utilise the funding to further enhance her skills.

“I will be using the scholarship to complete a Diploma of Building and Construction,” said Allyssa.

“This will develop my leadership and management skills, and continue my education in building codes and quality control.”
