2022 Highlights: Apprentices & Trainees Shine After Challenging Few Years

19 December 2022

It’s been an amazing 2022 for our apprentices and trainees as things have slowly transitioned to some sense of normal after two pandemic-affected years.

Completing qualifications

A huge positive in 2022 is the number of graduations we have seen. This is in spite of the challenges our apprentices and trainees have faced in recent years. Many apprentices who were impacted by the Covid shutdown in 2021 pushed through to complete their certificates, which is a massive effort.

We have had over 80 apprentices and trainees complete their qualifications this year! To everyone who has achieved this, we salute you! Congratulations also to each of the host businesses who have supported their apprentices and trainees through the final phase of their training journeys.

Outstanding achievements

In 2022, we also celebrated some outstanding achievements by a number of apprentices and trainees. We would like to acknowledge each of the following young employees on these well-deserved honours:

We were able to hold a much larger awards event this year, to showcase our amazing apprentices and trainees and their achievements. Once again, a big congratulations to all the finalists, winners and host businesses who were part of this year’s event.

The two big winners of the event were Wollondilly Shire Council trainee, Kiarna Cunningham, who won Certificate IV Trainee of the Year and Overall Trainee of the Year. Plant mechanic apprentice, Wezley Lukasz, who is hosted to AWD Group, won the 4th Year Apprentice of the Year and Overall Apprentice of the Year awards.
