It has been a busy first term for our School to Work team, with many school visits and presentations taking place.
Some of the team went to John Therry Catholic College to discuss employer expectations with Year 10 students. The team also took the students through resume preparation and the application and interview processes.
Our Introduction to Apprenticeships and Traineeships presentation was delivered to students at Lomandra School, which is a school for children with behavioural and mental health concerns. My Gateway School to Work Partner, Deanne James, visited two Lomandra sites in Campbelltown throughout the term and we hope that we can continue working with the school in the future.
We also began a community project with Dorchester ETU, located within the Reiby Juvenile Justice Centre. Two sessions were delivered to participants during the term, with an aim for further sessions later in 2020.
Other schools we worked with in Term 1 included:
Thank you to all of the schools who welcomed us during Term 1!
On the subject of COVID-19, as you many of you are aware, My Gateway staff are not conducting any face to face visits with external stakeholders, including schools, while we navigate the current situation. Whilst the School to Work team is not currently visiting schools in a physical capacity, they are working on some online resources and virtual presentations for Term 2.
If you wish to get in touch with us to speak about these online services, please email schools@mygateway.org.au. We wish all of you good health in this challenging time.
