2020 was an incredibly challenging year for workplaces across Australia due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. With many businesses looking at ways they can move forward in a positive direction this year, we want to highlight one move your business could try in 2021 – taking on an apprentice or trainee!
Qualifications encourage quality
An apprenticeship or traineeship involves the completion of a nationally recognised qualification while the employee undertakes on-the-job training. This means that by the completion of the qualification, your employee has real knowledge and skills under their belt.

Trades like electrical and engineering are very technical and specific, meaning it’s no mean feat to complete these qualifications. We don’t know what the workforce will continue to look like given our current climate, but we do know that real skill and craftsmanship is important for businesses to put their best feet forward for success. Developing an employee from apprentice or trainee level is a great way to ensure quality standards from the beginning.

Towards the end of 2020, we ran our annual Recruitment Days, interviewing over 100 young people across two days. We also has 134 apprentices and trainees commence their placements through us last year.
