Meet Our Newest School Based Apprentices and Trainees
Since the beginning of term, five new school based apprentices and trainees have begun their employment through My Gateway.
At Campbelltown City Council, three school based trainees have commenced: Mia Faure, Libby Clapson and Paige Bowyer. All three are undertaking their Certificate III in Business Administration.

We have also placed a school based trainee at Wollondilly Shire Council – Tahlia Majewski. Tahlia is also undertaking a Certificate III in Business Administration.
Ben Shedden is our latest carpentry school based apprentice. Ben is hosted to construction company, Roberts Pizzarotti and is a few weeks into his trade.
We look forward to sharing more about our new school based apprentices and trainees as they progress further throughout their employment.
Around the Grounds
My Gateway’s Field Team Leader, Steve Horn, shares his experiences working in the engineering trade, with students at John Therry. Photo: John Therry Catholic College.
It has been a busy first term for our School to Work team, with many school visits and presentations taking place.
Some of the team went to John Therry Catholic College to discuss employer expectations with Year 10 students. The team also took the students through resume preparation and the application and interview processes.
Our Introduction to Apprenticeships and Traineeships presentation was delivered to students at Lomandra School, which is a school for children with behavioural and mental health concerns. My Gateway School to Work Partner, Deanne James, visited two Lomandra sites in Campbelltown throughout the term and we hope that we can continue working with the school in the future.
We also began a community project with Dorchester ETU, located within the Reiby Juvenile Justice Centre. Two sessions were delivered to participants during the term, with an aim for further sessions later in 2020.
Other schools we worked with in Term 1 included:
- Chifley College Senior Campus
- East Hills Girls Technology High School
- Elizabeth Macarthur High School
- James Busby High School
- Robert Townsend High School
Thank you to all of the schools who welcomed us during Term 1!
A Note on COVID-19
On the subject of COVID-19, as you many of you are aware, My Gateway staff are not conducting any face to face visits with external stakeholders, including schools, while we navigate the current situation. Whilst the School to Work team is not currently visiting schools in a physical capacity, they are working on some online resources and virtual presentations for Term 2.
