Have you ever wondered what a horticulture apprentice does?
A day in the life of a horticulture apprentice can involve many different tasks and environments. However, you can guarantee it will involve being outdoors and getting your hands a little dirty!
If you take on a horticulture apprenticeship, you will be responsible for the care and growth of a variety of plants and planted areas. Some typical jobs you might do in a day include:
- Prepping, edging and mowing lawns
- Identifying plants and soils
- Identifying weeds, pests and diseases
- Turf management and maintenance
- Fertiliser and pesticide application
A horticulture apprenticeship can lead to a career in many different areas such as landscaping, sports turf management and parks and gardens management.
