Engineering – Textile Product Manufacturing Apprenticeship

My Gateway’s client are a long established award winning family manufacturing business who are seeking an enthusiastic apprentice wanting to learn a niche trade, incorporating the following activities:

  • Measuring & patterning a range of products from shadecloth, PVC & canvas – shade sails, covers, canopies and banners
  • Use CAD – Software used to create precision drawings or technical illustrations. This program allows you to create 2D & 3D models
  • CAD design of end products using in-house 2D & 3D technology including plotter cutting machines
  • Learning to fabricate end products using fabric welders and industrial sewing machines
  • Learn the costing and skills used when dealing with customers
  • Regular classroom attendance in work time to support training

It is expected the successful candidate will actively look to learn as much about the business as possible. Their involvement and advancement will be limited only by their initiative and understanding of all aspects of the business’ products and services.

This business has been around for over 130 years and has evolved using the latest technology in design and fabrics to come up with creative solutions for a range of fabric products including shade sails, vehicle covers & canopies, blind & awnings to enormous aerial heli-banners flown all around the world.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, reliable, have attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions. As part of the position, you will be required to attend TAFE one day per week.
